15th ANNUAL RICHARD SCHMID ART AUCTION

Steven's painting Dream Lake Approach (oil, 16x20", pictured above) will be part of the live auction at the 15th Annual Richard Schmid Art Auction in Bellvue, Colorado, on Sunday, September 5, 2010.  See bidding instructions.

This auction is an annual fundraiser for the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.  Since the auction's beginning in 1996, over 1000 pieces of fine original art have been auctioned for a total of over $1.5 million, generating over $555,000 to support one of just two all-volunteer fire departments in Colorado that receive no mandated tax support.

ACADIA INVITATIONAL II UPDATE

The opening reception for Argosy Gallery's Acadia Invitational II was held in Bar Harbor, Maine on Saturday, August 7.  Steven's painting February Shore (oil, 24x30") was awarded the Frenchman Bay Award, and also tied with Nancy J. Hill's painting A Toast to Acadia for the People's Choice Award.  Another of Steven's paintings, October Stroll (oil, 12x16"), received a Judge's Choice Award.  For more information about the exhibit, please visit www.argosygallery.com.


JULY 2010

LAUMEISTER FINE ART COMPETITION

Steven's painting Seneca Brook (oil, 12x16", pictured above) has been included in the second annual Laumeister Fine Art Competition at Bennington Center for the Arts in Bennington, Vermont.  The exhibit, which features 53 works of art juried by internationally recognized artist Sherrie McGraw, opens August 14, 2010, with the opening reception scheduled for October 16, 2010.   

ACADIA INVITATIONAL II

Argosy Gallery's Acadia Invitational II features paintings of Mount Desert Island, Maine by 30 artists from across the country, including Steven Hileman.  The exhibition opens at Bar Harbor Inn in Bar Harbor, Maine, on Saturday, August 7 from 2 to 5 PM, and Sunday, August 8 from 9 AM to 6 PM.  For more information, contact Argosy Gallery at 207-288-9226 or info@argosygallery.com. 


MAY 2010

VERMONT ARTISAN DESIGNS SHOW

Throughout the month of June, Vermont Artisan Designs in Brattleboro, Vermont, will be featuring an exhibit of new works by Steven Hileman (pictured above: Morning Willows, 16x20").  The opening for the exhibit will be Friday, June 4, 2010 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.


BENNINGTON CENTER FOR THE ARTS SMALL WORKS SHOW

Three of Steven's paintings, Begonias (oil, 10"x8"), Colorado Field (oil, 8"x10"), and Craig Pond (oil, 8"x10") have been included in the Small Works exhibit at Bennington Center for the Arts.  The exhibit opens May 29, 2010, and will be on display until December 19, 2010.

JULY 2009

PAINT THE PARKS TOP 100
 
Steven's painting Sapphirine Cove has been included in this year’s Paint the Parks Top 100 touring exhibition. This exhibition will be held at several locations over the next year, beginning with the Kolb Studio, South Rim Village, Grand Canyon National Park on Thursday, August 4, 2009.

In addition to being chosen as one of the top 100 entries for the show, this painting was also awarded the Kim Casebeer Juror’s Award.
